“Whilst Scotland is known for its historic whiskey production, it also has a long tradition of making excellent and unique gins. The Isle of Skye is no different; exploiting the clear spring waters and blending herbs and botanicals foraged from across the Misty Isle has led to award winning gin producers.  WGoS maintains the same dedication to gin selection as the wine selection by meeting the producers and ensuring their stories and ethos match those of WGoS.  We hope you enjoy the gin selections we have found as you savour them with your mixer of choice as the sun sets over the Minches.“

Isle of Skye Distillers is an independent, family-run business and proud creators of the multi-award-winning Misty Isle Gins.  Their premium gins are handcrafted and distilled in Portree on the idyllic Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands.  Like all of the WGoS wine selections, provenance is everything – that abiding sense of belonging and community. Over time, they have perfected our recipe; a marriage of crystal clear spring waters from the Storr Lochs and the right balance of the finest botanicals.  It has taken patience and judgement, but some things just cannot be rushed.  We have chosen two bottle sizes, 70cl and 20cl, to ensure you have the choice over how you enjoy this amazing gin.

Wine Guy on Skye has chosen the Classically Aromatic Misty Isle Gin due to their slowly distilled aromatics of juniper and botanicals in copper pot stills

  • Botanicals:  Coriander, angelica, grains of paradise, lemon, and a secret addition only found at altitude on the hills of Skye!
  • Flavours:  Notes of citrus and floral juniper with an undertone of spice.
  • Serving Suggestion:  Serve over ice with Scottish premium tonic water, with a twist of orange peel.
  • Alcohol: 41.5%

Tommy’s Gin, Misty Isle Distillers,

Misty Isle Distillers created a 45% volume gin in memory of their late father, Tommy Wilson, which was launched in October 2017.  Tommy served in the Suez invasion and passed away in late August 2016. ‘Tommy’ is also a generic name and term of endearment for a soldier.

For every bottle of Tommy’s Gin sold, a donation will be made to local Military Charities, Military charities are close to Thomas’ heart and he takes great pride in creating this unique gin.  Their labels have been inspired by the Commando memorial, near Spean Bridge on the Mainland..

  • Botanicals:  Hand foraged Skye Juniper berries, Blaeberries, Poppy seeds, hint of liquorice.
  • Flavours:  tartness from Blaeberries with hint if sweet orange and citrus balance
  • Serving Suggestion:  Serve over ice with Scottish premium tonic water, with a twist of lemon and a handful of blueberries.
  • Alcohol: 45%
